Salley – Mr. O’Ray Yon, 72, went to be with the Lord Thursday, September 24, 2008.
He the husband of Annette Poole Yon for 54 years; the father of Nan Stoots of Salley, Randall (Wanda) Yon of Rock Hill and Jan (Randy) Shumpert of Neeses; grandfather of the late Jenifer Puckett, Kelly (Chad) Hall, Erick Puckett, Christina (Jamie) Martin, Stephen (Lauren) Yon, Brenton Yon, Scott Shumpert, Andrew Shumpert, Daniel Shumpert, Brandon (Jessica) Stikeleather and Erica Lawrence; great grandfather of Brandon Prince, Matthew Prince, Mitchell Hall, Austin Abernathy, Mykala Abernathy, Nathan Martin, Tristen Martin and Hunter Stikeleather; and brother of Brodus (Sallie) Yon, B. W. (Edna) Yon, Daisy Young, Betty (George) Fulmer, and the late J. E. Yon, Jack Wesley Yon, Bobby Yon, Franklin Yon and Infant Boy Yon; and brother-in-law of Peggy Yon and Phyllis Yon.
Mr. Yon was born in Aiken County, the son of the late Bennie William and Lillie Cooper Yon. He was a member of Perry First Assembly of God Church and a retired farmer.
Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Wagener Chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home, 163 Main St. South, Wagener, SC (803) 564-5333. The Funeral Service will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Perry First Assembly of God Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Pastor Roger Hunnicutt will officiate. Pallbearers will be Erick Puckett, Scott Shumpert, Andrew Shumpert, Daniel Shumpert, Stephen Yon, Brenton Yon, Jamie Martin and Clint Brown. The family requests memorials be made to Perry First Assembly of God Church, P.O. Box 589, Wagener, SC 29164.
