Pelion – Mrs. Carolyn Elizabeth “Betty” Yon Wingard, 83, departed her earthly life to be with the Lord in her heavenly home, Friday, January 22, 2016.
Mrs. Betty was the wife for sixty-six years to Leland C. “L. C.” Wingard; mother of Linda (James) Coker of North East, GA; and grandmother of Gregory Scott Coker also of North East, GA.
Mrs. Betty was a member of Pelion United Methodist Church. She was the daughter of the late Granvy Lee and Thelma Chaney Spires and adopted daughter of the late Fred and Marie Yon. She was the sister of the late Clyde Spires, Palmon Spires, T. L. Spires, Billy Spires and Delmadge Spires.
The Funeral Service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Pelion United Methodist Church with Pastors Julius Hadden and Grover Williams officiating. Internment will follow in the Pelion Oaklawn Cemetery.
