Wagener – Mr. Robert Allen Upchurch, 54, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at the Medical College of Georgia Hospital after a sudden onset of illness. He was a loving brother who cared about others more than himself.
Mr. Upchurch is survived by his sons; William Joseph Upchurch and Robert “Bobby” Upchurch, daughter; Brittany Upchurch, grandchildren; Caydence and Payton who were the apple of their grandfather’s eye. He is also survived by sisters; Ena (Aaron) Upchurch Young of Aiken, and Linda L. (William) Upchurch Deaton of Pearson, GA, Alice A. (Donald) Upchurch Wright of Wagener, and Elizabeth A. (Don) Upchurch Ricard of New Combs, TN, and brothers; Gerald Dean Upchurch of Augusta, GA, Claude Thomas Widener of Wagener; William Harris “Bill” (Sara) Widener of Anderson.
Mr. Upchurch was the son of the late Robert Amos Upchurch and Etheleen Josephine Stamey Widener Upchurch. He was also predeceased by his sister' Nellie Widener, and brothers; James "Shorty" Widener, and Sandy B. Gordon “Buggs” Widener. Mr. Upchurch was a veteran of the U. S. Army, 82nd AirBorne Division. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Visitation for Mr. Upchurch will be Thursday from 6 to 7 pm. in the Wagener Chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home, 163 Main St. South, Wagener, SC. A Memorial Service will follow at 7 pm.
