Pelion - Mr. Billy Gene Stone, 74, entered into rest Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008.
Mr. Stone is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Blanche K. Stone; step-daughter, Kim (Danny) Bryant of Lexington; brothers, Jack (Lettie K.) Stone of Pelion and the late Dale M. Stone, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Stone was born in Lexington County, the son of the late Eugene and Pauline B. Stone. He was a Veteran of the Korean
War having served in the U. S. Navy. Mr. Stone was a member of Florence Baptist Church. He graduated from Pelion High School and received a Master of Education Degree from USC. He retired from Pelion High School after 31 years of service. Mr. Stone was a long time and founding member of the Pelion Rescue Squad.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Wagener Chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home, 163 Main St. South, Wagener, SC (803) 564-5333. The Funeral Service will be Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. in the Florence Baptist Church with the Revs. Charles Leonhardt andGrover Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Florence Baptist Church Cemetery Fund at 1720 Windy Wood Road, Pelion, SC 29123.
