Pelion - Mr. Daniel Edward “Sam” Smoak, 70, entered into rest Sunday, February 15, 2015.
Mr. Sam was the loving husband of Ann Roberts Smoak for 52 years; father of Wanda (Douglas) Welch, Ken Edward (Dale) Smoak, Sr., Theresa (Wyman) Corder, Sharon (John Disharoon) Smoak and James Austin (Heather) Smoak; grandchildren, Amy (John) McDonald, Amanda Castle, Jennifer (Tarrance Samuels, Sr.) Hutto, Stacey (Matthew Spears) Hutto, Shawn (Brandy) Smoak, Nicole (John) Porter, Brandon Smoak, Ken (Diana) Smoak, Jr., Alisha (Caleb) Johnson, Heather (Michael) Mims, Hope Ann (Wesley Hill) Doni, Zachary J. Doni, Kaida Smoak and Landon Smoak; great grandchildren, Addison McDonald, Kaden McDonald, Matthew Smith, Elizabeth Castle, Clarissa Samuels, Tarrance Samuels, Jr., Adam James Welch, Calleigh Smoak, Brooke Austin Jeffcoat, Caroline Porter, Alyssa Ladomirak, Brayden Porter, Olivia Porter, Eryn Porter, Marli Smoak, Jax Smoak, Keelah Johnson, Emily Johnson, Kelli B. Hill and Tyler H. Hill; brothers, Floyd (Yvonne) Smoak and Jack (Katherine) Smoak; sister, Mary Lou (Troy “Garner”) Linder; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Sam was born in Bamberg County, the son of the late Herman Nathan Smoak and Lula Mae Black Smoak Carter. He and his wife owned and operated the Smoak House Restaurant in Pelion. Mr. Sam loved being with his horses and piddlin’ with his tractors.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be 11:00 am Wednesday at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church with the Revs. Josiah Mazzel and Matthew Miller officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
