Salley – Mrs. Lena Mae “Grannie Mae” Chavis Smith, 79, a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, entered into rest on Monday, October 26, 2015.
Mrs. Mae was the devoted wife for 61 years of Robert Collins Smith. She was the loving mother of Randy (Colleen) Smith, Michael (Elana) Smith, Cheryl (Jerry) Hutson, Cindy (Donnie) Love and the late Robbie Dean Smith.
Grannie Mae had 11 grandchildren: Sylvia Jones, Chuck (Candi) Smith, Jeremy (Lizzie) Hutson, Lee (Michelle) Love, Paul (Linda) Smith, Clay (Rosie) Smith, Donna Love, Karl (Angela) Smith, Kayla Hutson, Sara (Austin) Kirkland, Seba (Alex) Williamson, and 20 great grandchildren: Kathryn Jones, Patrick Jones, Addy Jones, Collin Smith, Ryanne Smith, the late David Smith, Gabe Smith, Eli Smith, Channing Smith, Calee Smith, Cullen Smith, Blake Kirkland, Miles Kirkland, Christian Hutson, Kevin Lahnert, Austin Lahnert, Lucas Lahnert, Zachary Lahnert, Willow Lahnert, and Olivia Love.
Mrs. Mae was born in Orangeburg County to the late Curtis C. and Lena Jane Chavis.
She was the sister of Hazel (Denzel) Baughman, Rae (Pete Jr.) Baughman, the late Bazil (Thelma) Chavis, Judy Lou Oswald, Essie Lou Adams, and Curtis Chavis.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 28, 2015 from 6-8 p.m. in the Chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home and Cremation Services. A Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 358 East Pine Log Rd. Aiken, SC, 29803. Pallbearers will be Chuck Smith, Jeremy Hutson, Lee Love, Paul Smith, Clay Smith, Karl Smith, and Alex Williamson.
