Necola Hallman Shumpert
January 7, 1921 - March 8, 2014

Pelion – Mrs. Necola Hallman Shumpert, 93, entered into rest Saturday, March 8, 2014.

Mrs. Shumpert is the widow of Cyrus D. Shumpert, whom she met in 1940 in the Foxtown Community when he delivered the Sunday edition of the State Newspaper. They were married for 40 years until his passing in 1981.

Mrs. Shumpert was the mother of Annette S. (Malcolm) Lucas and Joseph Shumpert all of Pelion, grandmother of Elizabeth (Michael) Reynolds, David (Mindy) Lucas and Anna (Travis) Burr, great grandmother of Sarah and Lucas Burr, and sister of Gladys Ridgell of Batesburg, and Annie Lou (Thurmond) Cromer of Monetta.

Mrs. Shumpert was born in Aiken County, the daughter of the late Clarence Archie and Annie Hutto Hallman. She was a member of Pelion Baptist Church. Mrs. Shumpert was well known for her baking talents and loving heart.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 3 to 4 p.m. in the Activity Building of Pelion Baptist Church. The Funeral Service will be at 4 p.m. in the Pelion Baptist Church with the Reverend Matthew Boyle officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pelion Oaklawn Cemetery.
