Wagener - Mr. James Hoyt Poole, 86, went to be with the Lord Wednesday January 16, 2013.
Mr. Poole is survived by his wife of 62 years; Patsy Knight Poole, children; Ann (Wes) McManus, Andy (Jan) Poole, and Wendy Poole, grandchildren; Wesley “Chippy” McManus, Anna McManus, Andrew (Anna) Poole, Patti Poole, Steven “Stymie” (Kathy) Hutto and Ryan “Buga boo” Dickson, great grandchildren; Ella Claire Poole, Noah Hutto and Collin Hutto, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Poole was born to the late Cullen and Ettie Bell Livingston Poole. He was preceded in death by his sisters; Margaret Bolen and Mary Hatfield, and brother; W. C. Poole. The family expresses their grateful appreciation to AGAPE Hospice for their compassion and care.
Mr. Poole was a member of First Baptist Church – Wagener where he had been a Sunday school teacher, usher, and fiancée committee member among serving in other capacities as well. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and a Masonic member of Cedar Lodge #184 in Wagener. Mr. Poole was a hardware salesman for Palmetto Wholesale for approximately 40 years. He was the first sales representative to sell over one million dollars of hardware for the company. Mr. Poole also owned and operated Kwik Karry for 21 years.
A graveside service will be held Monday, 2:00 pm in the Wagener Cemetery with Masonic Rites and Military Honors. The Revs. Dave Robinson and Philip Turner will be officiating.
