Lexington- Mr. Don Pecic, 74, entered into rest Monday, April 21, 2014.

Don was born in Kikinda, Yugoslavia and is survived by his loving wife of 51 years; Sandra “Sandi” Pennock Pecic, children: John D (Amy) Pecic of London England, Lisa M. (Ethan) Pecic Teed of Ferndale, WA, Krista K (David) Pecic Hineline of Lexington,  four grandchildren: Connor, Victoria, Katie, and Alex and  sister Zorana Pecic Jankovich of Baltimore, MD.  He was predeased by his parents; Zarko and Julia Joanovich Pecic.

Don served as a U.S. Army officer. During that time he served in Vietnam War and retired with the rank of Major after 22 years of service. Graduated from Geneva College, Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania where he earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering. Following his military retirement he served as President of Prime Associates. He then worked as a South Carolina Realtor and for the Lexington County Public Works, Lexington, S.C.

He enjoyed sharing stories and pictures of his grandchildren but most of all he loved being Papa.  He rooted passionately for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Pittsburgh Steelers and Carolina Gamecocks.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 – 6 pm.  The Bright Week Panikhida (Pray) Service will begin at 6 pm with visitation following from 7-8 pm in the Holy Apostles Orthodox Church, 724 Buff Street, West Columbia.

The Funeral Service will be Thursday at 11am in the Holy Apostles Orthodox Church with Father Thomas Moore officiating. The committal service will be held at the Saints Mary and Martha Monastery, 51 Spinner Lane Wagener, SC.  Blizzard Funeral Home, 153 Main St. South, Wagener, SC (803) 564-5333 is assisting the family.  Condolences to the Pecic family may be made online at www.blizzardfuneralhome.com. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Apostles Orthodox Church in memory of Don Pecic.

The entire Pecic family wants to extend their warmest appreciation to Compassionate Care Hospice and Agape Hospice Home.  Our Papa rested comfortably daily and received the upmost care.  Mrs. Dottie Allen, Compassionate Care Hospice, The Captain has your own set of wings waiting for you in heaven.
