Wagener –Mr. Brian Vincent Martin “Yank”, 76, passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2010. He was born in Teaneck, N.J., the son of the late Grace Bonner Ackert and Joseph Martin. He was also preceded in death by his brothers; John Martin, Gil Ackert, Les Ackert and sisters; Ruth Mary Martin and Eileen Ackert. He was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps.
Mr. Martin is survived by his wife of 57 years, Eloise Davis Martin, children; Mary Ruth Martin Long and son-in-law Danny Long of Gaston, Cynthia Faye Martin of Columbia, and Lorrie Lorraine M. Hallman of Williston, grandchildren; Ashley Ryan Gibson, Amber Nicole Nelepovitz, Aeron Elizabeth Nelepovitz, Danielle Denise Long, and David Brian Long, great-grandchildren, Mason Vincent Nelepovitz, Matthew Zachary Smith and Jacob Ryan Smith, sister Ella Mae Ackert, and brothers; Wayne, Darryl and Chester Ackert.
The Funeral Service will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in the Wagener Chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home with the Rev. John O’Cain officiating. Burial will follow in the Rocky Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends at the church following the interment. Memorial can be made in his name to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and American Lung Association.
