Salley – God picked a rose for His garden. Sylvia Jean Lucas, 59, of 329 Wimbledon Rd., lost her courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday, October 31, 2007.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Wagener Chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home, 163 Main St., South (803) 564-5333. Services will be held at Perry Baptist Church at 4 p.m. on Friday. Her nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Sylvia was the daughter of the late Sylvanus and Thelma Davis Lucas. Surviving are her brothers, Joe (Dorothy) of Columbus, GA; Aubrey of the home; Charles Maynard (Ruby) of Fayetteville, NC; Nick (Lena) of Santee, SC; a sister, Helen (Larry) Craft of Pelion, SC, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Sylvia was what some might call mentally challenged, but she had the gift of facing life with the passion of a child. She took great pleasure in simple things, such as riding her golf cart, tinkering with electronics, and grocery shopping.
Sylvia was a blessing to everyone who was touched by her. She will forever be cherished in our hearts.
