Bob died peacefully at Thursday in the Palmetto Health Richland Hospital after a long illness.  Born April 28, 1926 in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late Robert F. Lindsay Jr. and Gwendolyn G. Lindsay.  He was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn M. Lindsay and his sister, Gwen Lindsay Rhonda.

Bob graduated from Greenville High School in 1943 and joined the V-12 Navy officer training program.  The navy sent him to the University of the South, Sewanee, TN. After two years at Sewanee he applied and was accepted to the Navy ROTC at the University of Oklahoma and graduated as a commissioned officer. He was assigned to the PCE **) as communications and Aerology officer in the North Pacific and Aleutian Islands.

In 1950 Bob married Evelyn McKinney, the love of his life. She predeceased him on August 3, 2013 after 64 years of marriage.  Bob and Evelyn moved to Columbia in 1953 and were soon blessed with a daughter, Stacey and a son, Rob.  Bob was very proud of his children and their successes in life.  Bob opened a new Columbia branch office for Barber Coleman Co., of Rockford, Illinois.  He was manager and sales engineer.  Under his management the Columbia office ranked as one of the top five sales producers in the US for over 20 years.  In 1977 he became a real estate broker and opened Bob Lindsay Realty from which he “sort of retired” about 2010.   For many years he was an active member of the Christian Businessmen’s Committee, USA.  As membership chairman in the 1970’s and 80’s he was able to recruit many new members. It was through this organization that Bob accepted Jesus Christ as his savior and began the journey to salvation.

He was very pleased when he discovered and joined the Orthodox Christian Church the original church of Jesus Christ, his Apostles and all the Saints.  There under a great cloud of witness Bob learned the importance of growing in Christ.  He believed that if he was not closer to Christ today than yesterday he had missed the mark.  Bob was a member of Holy Apostles Orthodox Church West Columbia where he served as adult Bible teacher.

Bob is survived by his daughter Stacey Lindsay and her husband Terry Schager of Landrum SC, son Robert F. Lindsay, IV and his wife LeeAnn of Boise, Idaho, grandson Kyle Lindsay, of Boise, and nephew Gaspar Rhonda Jr. of Los Angeles.  The family wishes to thank the members of Holy Apostle Orthodox Church for their loving support.
