COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Evelyn M. Lindsay, 88, of Columbia will be held on Wednesday, August 7 at 11: 00 at Holy Apostles Orthodox Church, 724 Buff Street, West Columbia, 29169, offered by Father Thomas Moore. A memorial service (Pannikhida) will be held at the church on the evening of Tuesday, August 6 at 6:00, with visitation at 5:00, also at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Apostles Orthodox Church. Interment will follow the Wednesday service at the Monastery of Saints Mary and Martha at 65 Spinner Lane, Wagener SC. Blizzard Funeral Home, Wagener, is assisting the family.
Evelyn died peacefully on August 3, 2013 at Palmetto Richland Hospital after a number of years of declining health. Born in Taylors, SC, she was the daughter of W. Anson McKinney and Mary Elizabeth Boling McKinney, and was married for 64 years to Robert F. Lindsay. She graduated from Taylors High School and Anderson College. Bob and Evelyn moved to Columbia in 1953 where Evelyn devoted her life to making a home for her husband and children. She is survived by her husband, daughter, Stacey Lindsay (Terry Schager) of Landrum SC, and a son, Robert F. Lindsay IV (LeeAnn) and a grandson, Kyle Michael Lindsay, of Boise, Idaho.
