New Holland – Mr. George Wendell Kirkland, 68, entered into rest Friday November 6, 2015.
Wendell was the husband of Marsha Prater Kirkland for 18 years. He was the father of Hayley (Rodney) Yates of Maryville, TN and Paige (Aimee) Kirkland of New Holland and grandfather of Hunter and Kamrin Kirkland. Wendell was the son of Loree Fallaw Kirkland and the late George A. Kirkland. He was the brother of Lynnwood (Jan) Kirkland and the late Donna Kirkland.
Wendell retired from S. C. DNR in 2001 after 26 years of service. He was a veteran of the S. C. National Guard and owner of K & K Farm Equipment.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Monday in the chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 163 Main Street South, Wagener, SC 29164. The Funeral Service will be held 2 pm Tuesday at Pauline Church of Christ, 3036 Fairview Road, Leesville, SC (in the Fairview Community) with Pastor Rick Farwell officiating.
Active Pallbearers will be Ernie Bledsoe, Laverne Bledsoe, Ray Casey, Milton Kirkland, Derwin Shumpert, Tom Tyler and the S. C. DNR Honor Guard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Russell Fulmer, Lendel Hutto, Jim Kirkland and Lane Kirkland.
