Charles W. Katz Sr., CFO, businessman, turned landowner of rental properties, died peacefully in Ridgewood, NJ on Tuesday, July 8, 2008, after suffering a massive heart attack.  Mr. Katz achieved a business and accounting degree at CCNY, while  working full time and supporting a family. He moved quickly into the world of business and finance, brainstorming, troubleshooting and  putting out corporate fires.  He branched out into international  business while working in Bahrain, and later in Saudi Arabia. He was active in the Ridgewood Auxiliary Police Force, the Salem Ridge Association, the Newcomers Club and the Young Republicans Club.

Mr. Katz loved life. He was a raconteur, sports fanatic, carpenter and political junky. He loved animals, and owned two bijans, a golden  retriever and a parrot. He loved reading, and was a Sherlock Holmes  aficionado. He did the Times crossword puzzle every day, in ink. He  was adventurous and knew his cigars and single malts. He was known to be fearless.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; his ex-wife and close friend, Gail Katz Rauch; his children, Colette Katz, Charles Katz, Elizabeth  Larson Torres and Allyson Larson Polk; his grandchildren, Skyler,  Phoenix, Peter, William and Ruben, and his brother Robert Katz.
