WAGENER – Mr. Melvin Neal Johnson, 80, entered into rest Wednesday, June 11, 2008.

Mr. Johnson is survived by children Jackie Hutto of Augusta, GA, Peggy Broome of Lincolnton, GA, Darlene Edwards of Hephzibah, GA, Brenda Gunter of Wagener, and Jeanette Jones of Fayetteville, AR, grandchildren Tim Hutto of Aiken, Kim Vine of Aiken, Ricky Gunter of Pelion, Kelly Gunter of Salley, and Christy Hutto of New Holland, and 14 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Johnson was the son of the late Leonard Calvin and Eula Gillian West Johnson and the husband of the late Susie Mae Rushton Johnson. He was predeceased by daughter Gloria Hutto, as well as his brothers and sisters. Mr. Johnson was a retired Sergeant First Class in the US Army having served in both Korea and Vietnam. He was also a security guard for many years following his military retirement.

Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Wagener Chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home, 163 Main St. South, Wagener, S.C. (803) 564-5333. The Funeral Service will be Saturday at 1:00 p.m. also in the Chapel with the Rev. Chris Addy officiating. Burial will follow in the Clinton United Methodist Church Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society at 115 Greenville St., Aiken, S.C. 29801.
