William E. Jackson
October 22, 1922  - April 3, 2010
Salley — William Edward Jackson, Sr., 87, entered into rest Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Palmetto Health Richland Hospital.

He leaves his loving wife of 61 years, Lydia Bodie Jackson; his daughter and son-in-law, Dottie and Billy Hames, son and daughter-in-law, William (Jimbo) and Barbara Jackson, grandchildren Jennifer (Rodney) Fortune, April (Gregg Talente) Hames, Shelly Jackson, Jason Hames, Amy Hoover and Stephanie Poole,  great-grandchildren Mallory, Meagan and Jack, sister-in-law Sallie Yon, and special nephews Teddy and Ross Jackson.

Mr. Jackson was born and raised in Hollow Creek, the son of Oscar Moody and Madeline (Starnes) Jackson. He was a lifelong resident of Salley.
Mr. Jackson was a farmer, and worked his farm himself until he fell ill in November 2007.  Farming was a passion to him, and he was always ready to help his friends and neighbors.  He is remembered for his kindness, generosity, and his fierce but humble strength.

Mr. Jackson is also survived by many special friends and relatives.  His family is eternally grateful for the companionship and generosity offered by Glen Tindall, Maxine and Thomas Meetze, Bence and Annie Lou Bailey, Mrs. Ruth Zimmerman, and a host of extended family and lifelong friends as well as caretakers from Tri County Hospice.

Visitation will be at Blizzard Funeral Home in Wagener on Monday, April 5 from 6-8 pm.   Funeral Services will be held at Berlin Baptist Church on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 3 pm with burial in the church cemetery.
