Wagener – Mrs. Betty Ruth Smith Helsel entered into rest Wednesday, March 19, 2014. She was born on March 27, 1922 in Langdondale, Pennsylvania; a daughter of the late Arthur Glen and Margaret Isabel (Eichelberger) Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband: James Edward Helsel. Sr.
Mrs. Helsel is survived by her children; James Edward Helsel, Jr. married to JoAnn, Sparrows Point, MD and Carolyn married to Robert Vettel, Wagener, SC, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and daughter-in-law: Virginia Helsel.
Mrs. Helsel was preceded in death by her son: Rodney Earl Helsel, brothers and sisters: Catherine Covert, Allen Smith, Grace Smith, Paul Smith, Hope Wright and Lester Smith.
Mrs. Helsel was from Langdondale, PA and she was a retired librarian/instructional
assistant with the Baltimore County, MD Public School System.
There will be no local services. Family and Friends will be received on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at the Akers Funeral Chapel, 715 Church Street, Saxton, PA from 5-7 P.M. and on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 24, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. in the Akers Funeral Chapel with Rev. Barbara Berg officiating. Burial will be held in Langdondale Cemetery.
