Jackie "Jack" Norman Hallman
February 23, 1937 - January 24, 2008
Mr. Jackie Norman Hallman, 70, entered into rest Thursday, January 24, 2008. Mr. Jack and Mrs. Virginia had been living with their nephew (Larry Samol and Melissa Burgess), who they had raised as a son, for several months so they could help take care of him.

Mr. Jack was born in Spartanburg, SC. He was the son of the late Ishmael Worth and Ruth Viola Clarke Hallman. He was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Hartwell, GA.  Mr. Jack was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in the Korean Conflict and he was a truck driver owner/operator for over 40 years. Mr. Jack and Mrs. Virginia lived in Bradenton, FL for over 20 years, Clayton, GA for 14 years and Hartwell, GA for 7 years before moving to the Swansea area.
Mr. Jack is survived by his wife (team driver) of 43 years, Virginia Lee Haas Hallman, brothers Berry (Judith) Hallman of Clayton, GA, Gerald “Cotton” (Vickie) Hallman of Doerun, GA, Ronald “Ron” (Billie Jean) Hallman of Raleigh, NC, sisters Medda Hafer of Knoxville, TN, and Becki (John) Grisaffi of Knoxville,TN, as well as 18 nieces and nephews. Mr. Jack and Mrs. Virginia were endeared to several pets that were their special children; Rascal, Trouble, Zipper, Happy, Popeye, Pepsi and Oreo.

Visitation will be Monday, January 28th from 3 to 5 p.m. at Blizzard Funeral Home, 153 Main Street South in Wagener, SC (803) 564-5333. A memorial service will be held at a later date at St. Andrews Episcopal Church. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, January 29 at 1:00 p.m. in Skyway Memorial Gardens in Palmetto, FL (5200 US 19 Hwy, Palmetto, FL 34221) with military honors. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society at 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210 or the Memorial Garden Fund at St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 579 Fairview Ave., Hartwell, GA 30643.
