Pelion – Mrs. Reba Evon “Shorty”, “Shaw” Poole Green, 78, went to be with the Lord Friday, November 4, 2016.
Mrs. Reba “Shorty” was the loving wife for 59 years to the late Finley O’neal “Sambo” Green, Sr. She was the loving mother of O’neal (Cynthia) Green Jr., Teresa G. (Randy) Lee, Kelly (Jan) Green, Janice G. (Alvin) Jones, Rebecca G. (Rex) Wood, Betty Ann G. (Jon) Barrs, Margie G. (Roy) Fulmer, and the late Stanley Michael Green; grandmother of 14, Jennifer (Tony) Peavy, Tiffany (Brandon) Smith, Teresa (Justin) Bazemore, Christy (Mike) Fink, Wesley (Megan) Lee, Kale (Brooke) Green, Dale Green, Greg (Kelli) Jones, Mike Jones, Kelly (Martin) Amerson, Taylor Wood, Jessica Barrs, Samantha (Brandon) Rabon, and Joshua Fulmer; great grandmother of 21, Neal Green, T. J. Peavy, Daylyn Peavy, Kayla Peavy, Stephanie Peavy, Bristol Bazemore, Dawson Bazemore, Izzy Fink, Logan Lee, Tanner Lee, Will Green, Owen Green, Valerie Amerson, Marshall Amerson, Gracie Amerson, Aiden Rabon, Matthew Rabon, Blake Rabon, Addison Rabon, Kylie Fulmer and J. J. Fulmer; and sister of Cleveland Poole, Ruby (Jackie) Jeffcoat, and the late Lescola “Pete” Miller, Kinley “Dub” Poole, James “Bubba” Poole, LaRoche “Roche” Poole, Sally “Nit” Jeffcoat, Harry Poole, Patsy Poole and Billy Poole.
Mrs. Reba “Shorty” was born in Lexington County, daughter of the late Dantzler Jake and Mary Narcissus Sanford Poole. She was a member of King Grove Baptist Church. She was an active charity worker for her church and community. Mrs. Reba “Shorty” loved people and never met a stranger. She loved to fish, travel, work in the garden and care for flowers. She had a passion for sharing her home, meals and stories with everyone. You didn’t leave her house hungry. She was well known for her homemade country cooking; especially the cathead biscuits and cornbread. Mrs. Reba “Shorty” was well known for caring for others no matter how bad she may have felt herself.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be 3:00 pm Monday in the King Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Cook Addy and Julian Boles officiating. Mrs. Reba “Shorty” will be placed in the church at 2:00 pm for viewing. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, Hwy 178 Swansea. The grandsons and great grandsons will be the pallbearers. Memorials may be made to King Grove Baptist Church at 1580 Hwy 178, Swansea, SC 29160.
