Fairview – Mr. Lester Lewis Gray, 86, departed his earthly life to be with the Lord in his heavenly home, Thursday, June 11, 2015.
Mr. Gray was a good husband, father and grandfather who loved taking care of his family. He was married to Margaret Gantt Gray for fifty-nine years. He was the father of Judy (Billy) Pound and the late Michael Gray, grandfather of Mandy (John McDuffy) Jones and Heather (Jonathan) Barton, great grandfather of Naudica, Zoe and Carly Barton, Taylor Barberina and Ali McDuffy. Mr. Gray was the brother of the late Cecil Gray and brother-in-law of Jeanette Gantt and the late Robert Gantt, Joann and David Gantt, and Sandra Gantt and the late Callie Gantt. Mr. Gray was born in Tallassee, AL to the late Ida Maran and Henry W. Gray.
Mr. Gray was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and taught Sunday school. He was the charter Fire Chief of the Fairview Fire Department and retired from Allied Chemical after twenty-five years as a chemist.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 13th from 6 to 8 pm in the chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be Sunday at 3 pm in the Pine Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Bud Moss officiating. Mr. Gray will be placed in the church at 2 pm for viewing. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
