Wagener – Mrs. Vonnie Bussey Gentry, 78, passed away in her home after a brief illness on Monday, September 8, 2014.
She was born in Modoc, SC to parents B. T. Bussey, Sr. and Jessie Prince Bussey. She retired from Wagener Mfg. Co. after 42 years of service. She continued to mourn the loss of her husband of 54 years, James R. Gentry. She was an active member of Rocky Springs Baptist Church attending almost every service and/or function. She was the Chaplain of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Unit 43 of Aiken, SC.
Mrs. Gentry is survived by her children Dell (Stanley) Hunnicutt, Brad (Susan) Gentry, and Janet (Paul) DeSantis all of Wagener, 9 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild, and sister Sylvia (Bennie) Mixon of Wagener.
Pallbearers will be Brad Gentry, Brandon Gentry, Stanley Hunnicutt, Stan Hunnicutt, Paul DeSantis, and Chad Hall. Honorary Pallbearers will be Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Unit 43 of Aiken, SC.
The Visitation will be at Blizzard Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm. The family will also accept visitors at the Gentry home at 3522 Camp Rawls Rd. The Funeral will be 3 pm on Thursday at Rocky Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Whaley officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
