James R. Gentry
March 19, 1936 - January 15, 2010
Wagener – Mr. James R. Gentry, 73, passed away at his residence and went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 15, 2010. He was born in Danville, VA. He was a resident of Wagener and an active member of Rocky Springs Baptist Church for 55 years. He currently served as Chairman of the Board of Deacons. Many will remember Mr. Gentry from Tyler Brothers where he worked for 23+ years.

Mr. Gentry is survived by his wife of 54 years; Vonnie B. Gentry of Wagener, 2 daughters; Dell (Stanley) Hunnicutt, and Janet (Paul) DeSantis, and 1 son Brad (Susan) Gentry, all of Wagener. He has 9 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren. Mr. Gentry has 1 sister; Sylvia (Pete) Sakellaris of Danville, VA, and 1 brother; Charlie (Marly) Gentry of Jackson, TN.

Pallbearers will be his Grandsons; Stan Hunnicutt, Brandon Gentry, Jonathan DeSantis, and Shane Fulmer. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons and Senior Adult Sunday School Class of Rocky Springs Baptist Church. Rev. Adam Hensley will officiate.

The Visitation will be at Blizzard Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday from 6 to 8 pm. The family will also accept visitors at the Gentry home at 3522 Camp Rawls Rd. The Funeral will be 1 pm on Monday, Jan 18th at Rocky Springs Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Unit 43 at 225 Bluffwood Rd., Wagener, SC 29164, where he served as an active member, or the American Diabetes Association, Atlanta GA Office, 17 Executive Park, Suite 115, Atlanta, GA 30329-2012.
