Aiken - Mr. Thomas Edwin “Ed” Garvin, 90, entered into rest peacefully on Thursday, March 17, 2016.
Mr. Garvin was born in the Kitchings Mill area in Aiken County in 1925 to the late Onard Emanuel and Callie Cook Garvin. After serving in the Army, he graduated from Clemson University on the GI Bill. He was employed by Dupont at Savannah River Plant for 25 years and owned and operated Garvin’s RV Sales for over 40 years.
Mr. Garvin had been a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Aiken and Millbrook Baptist Church. He was a member of the Shade Tree A’s Model A Club.
A Graveside Service will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, April 2, 2016 in the Tabernacle Baptist Church Cemetery at 113 Tabernacle Road, Springfield, SC. After the service, the family will receive friends and family in Aiken at Newberry Hall, 117 Newberry St SW from 12:00 to 2:00.
Mr. Garvin is survived by his wife, Frances Yvonne Bonner Garvin of Greenwood, SC; his 3 daughters: Marilyn Garvin Rogers (Richard) of Pensacola, FL, Kathryn Garvin White (Richard) of Cary, NC and Alice Garvin Hicks (Mike) of Greenwood, SC; his 6 grandchildren: Daniel Brian White of Austin, TX, Kelly Alice White of Cary, NC, Ryan Kirke White of Buford, GA, Andrea White Urbanski (Steve) of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Michael Garvin Hicks and Caroline Kathryn Hicks both of Clemson, SC and 3 great grandchildren: Chelsea White, Eve Urbanski, and Andrew Urbanski. Mr. Garvin was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ray Palmer Garvin, and sister, Virginia Dare Garvin Thomas.
