WAGENER – Mr. Lloyd S Garvin, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, June 9, 2015. 

Mr. Garvin was born in Aiken County, the son of the late Gervais Clifton “Monk” Garvin and Elizabeth Cothran Garvin. He was a member of Bethcar Baptist Church and a veteran of the U. S. Army and the Army National Guard. He was a Millwright Foreman at Rust Construction and was a Supervisor at Yeargin Construction for 35 years and he also worked in maintenance at Grantville Company for 10 years.  

Mr. Garvin loved his wife, children, grand and great grandchildren. He was the husband for 52 years to Velda “Darling” Sanders Garvin, father and father-in-law of Jamie “Bigshot” Garvin and his wife Tami Jo, Susie “Sassafras” Navarro and her husband Salvador, and Alice “Doodlebug” Doolittle and her husband John. Mr. Lloyd was the grandfather of Zachary Garvin (Quantasia), Rosita Navarro (Jóse), Jacob Garvin (Kirby), Seth Garvin (Priscilla), Cecilia Navarro, the late John Michael Doolittle, Lacie Doolittle, and Nicolas Navarro. He was the great grandfather of Lasy Williams, Kaley Garvin, Isaiah Garvin, Mya Garvin, Ali Williams, Riley Jo Garvin, and baby Garvin on the way. He was the brother of Mary Ann Gleaton (Mortimore), and the late Mildred Traynham (William “Greek”), Floyd Garvin and William Darrell Garvin. Mr. Garvin was the uncle of many nieces and nephews. He also had a close family friend Candice Olney.

Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Wagener Chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home, 163 Main St., South. The Funeral Service will be Saturday at 4 p.m. at Bethcar Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Addy officiating.

Lloyd loved his family and devoted his life to taking care of his family. He loved his church family and his church where he severed on several committees. He loved working with his tools, building birdhouses, doing home repairs, and playing with his grandchildren. He was an avid Gamecock, Braves, and Dale Earnhardt fan.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Bethcar Baptist Church at P.O. Box 546 Wagener, SC 29164 or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital P. O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-0050 in memory of Mr. Lloyd.
