SALLEY – Mr. James “Archie” Gartman, 71, died Tuesday, August 19th.
He was born in Orangeburg County, the son of the late Hazel Gartman Williams. Mr. Gartman was husband of Jean Elizabeth Hutto Gartman for 49 years, the father of James Ray (Julie) Gartman of Springfield, Randy (Tracy) Gartman and the late Billy Gene Gartman, grandfather of Torie Nicole Gartman, Allyson Renee Gartman, and Rebecca Leanne Gartman, and brother of Bobby (Gail) Williams of Salley, Billy (Luci) Williams of Clearwater, and Dorothy Williams of West Columbia.
Mr. Gartman was a member of Dean Swamp Baptist Church and was a mechanic having worked at Talley Corbett Box Company, Salley Manufacturing, and Graniteville Company.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Wagener Chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home, 163 Main St., South (803) 564-5333.The Memorial Service will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. in Dean Swamp Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dalton Ward and Rev. Delos Miles officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to the Dean Swamp Baptist Church, Senior Group at P.O. Box 567 Springfield, SC 29146 of Hospice Care of Tri County at 1681 Chestnut Street Orangeburg, SC 29115-3327.
