Wagener – Mrs. Ruth McLendon Brown Gantt, 80, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, January 6, 2015.
Mrs. Ruth was the mother of Michael (Marlene) Brown and Patricia (Lisa McGee) Brown of Wagener, and Cynthia (Don) Pappas of Houston, TX, grandmother of Jackie (John) Zywicki, Thomas M. Brown, Joann C. Brown, Angela Veronee, Ashley N. Brown, Carina (Douglas Sims) Pappas, Daniel (Ivery) Pappas, John (Meredith) Pappas, Michelle Haynes, Amber McGee, and John Rushton; great grandmother of 15; sister of Annette Tillman, Kenneth (Elizabeth) McLendon, and the late Mary Crews, Earl McLendon, Bert McLendon, Jr., Claudia Bunch, Edward McLendon, Lewis McLendon, and Shirley Cady; step sister of the late Elsie McLendon, Peggy McLendon, and Buddy McLendon; sister-in-law of Betty Erbe, and the late Bernice Irwin; daughter of the late Henry Bert and Janie Ellen Rowell McLendon; step daughter of the late Nettie King McLendon; and widow of Bernard H. Brown and Woodrow Gantt.
Mrs. Ruth was a member of Bethcar Baptist Church. She was the WMU leader for many years.
Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Bethcar Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Addy officiating. She will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
