WAGENER – Mrs. Sara Taylor Corbett went home to be with the Lord Thursday, March 27th, 2008, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Corbett was the wife of the late Leon W. Corbett for 34 years. She is survived by 3 sons, Ed (Susan) Corbett, Jeff (Pam) Corbett, and Craig Corbett; 9 grandchildren Jessica, Brittany, and Katie Corbett, Walt, Wayne, and Taylor Corbett, and Jeremy, Christopher, and Craig Corbett; 2 sisters, Barbara Broughton and Patricia (Jerry) Faile; and 1 brother, Stanley Taylor. She was predeceased by her mother and father, Idelle and Ira E. Taylor, Sr. and her brother, Ira E. “Junior” Taylor, Jr.
Mrs. Corbett was a graduate of Berry College, Class of 1951, and obtained her Master’s degree from Tennessee in 1965. She was a life member of the SCEA and a Golden Sister of ADK. She taught many years at Midlands Technical College and at Wagener-Salley High School. Mrs. Corbett was a member of Wagener United Methodist Church where she was a United Methodist Lay Speaker for over 20 years, taught Sunday school and served in a variety of leadership positions within the church. She faithfully worked at Wayne’s Automotive Center and contributed to its success.
Visitation will be Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Wagener Chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home, 163 Main St. South, Wagener, SC (803) 564-5333. The Funeral Service will be Sunday at 4:00 p.m. in the Wagener United Methodist Church with the Reverend Kristen Richardson-Frick officiating. Mrs. Corbett will be placed in the church an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Wagener Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Wagener United Methodist Church Building Fund at P.O. Box 265, Wagener, SC 29164.
