Edisto Island – Mrs. Anne Sharon Pouquette Clamp, 68, entered into rest Wednesday, August 24, 2011.

Mrs. Clamp is survived by husband; Heyward F. Clamp, Jr., daughter Sharon B. Rauch, granddaughter; Stephanie Lenore Rauch all of Edisto Island, sister; Charlotte Marie P. Glaz of Goodyear, AZ, brother and sister-in-law; Teddy and Brenda Clamp, and nieces; Jessie Clamp and Anne Clamp also of Edisto Island.

Mrs. Clamp was the daughter of the late Frank Albert and Lenore Martha Lewis Pouquette, and also preceded in death by son Lucky W. Baker.

Mrs. Clamp was an avid artist, a published author, and loved wild animals, especially those that needed special love and care to mend and rehabilitate before releasing back into their natural environment. She managed the Serpentarium that her husband and his brother Teddy built and operated there on Edisto Island.

A time to celebrate Mrs. Clamp’s life is being planned at the home.

Quote from Mrs. Sharon Clamp
“I took great pleasure in raising many orphaned wild baby animals. My favorite were the raccoons. I would always release them when they were ready to go, except one. She had a physical problem that wouldn’t have let her live safely or long in the wild, but Flompy was my special raccoon pet for many years.”
