Wagener – Mr. Donald Gene Cates, CSM US ARMY Ret., 80, entered into rest Sunday, March 30, 2014.
Mr. Cates is survived by his loving wife of 17 years Eunice T. Cates, his children; Ricky (Darla) Cates, Gary (Kathy) Cates, Mickey (Jeff) Taylor, Robert (Gloria) Blanton and Karen Blanton, 20 grandchildren, many great grandchildren.
Mr. Cates was the son of the late Thomas M. and Euiffe Overcash Cates. He was predeceased by his brother Larry Cates. Mr. Cates was a member of Seivern Baptist Church. He was a Korean War veteran of the U. S. Army where he served 31 ½ years.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm in the chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held at 3 pm Thursday at Seivern Baptist Church. Burial with full military honors will be held in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Seivern Baptist Church Building Fund at 1337 Seivern Rd., Wagener, SC 29164.
