SALLEY –Mrs. Bessie Gleaton Brown, 80, entered into rest Thursday, October 7, 2010.
Mrs. Brown was born in Aiken County, the daughter of the late Mike and Chrystabell Fogle Gleaton. She was also preceded in death by two of her children, Patrick and Janet Brown, brothers Edward Gleaton, “Mac” Gleaton, M. L. Gleaton, M. H. Gleaton, and sister Vondell Poole. Mrs. Brown was a member of Salley Baptist Church.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband of 57 years, Clifford Brown, children; Randy (Gloria) Brown of Aiken, and Patricia (Mark) Carey of Batesburg, grandchildren; Jason (Aubrey) Carey, Christopher (Kimberly) Carey, Ashleigh (Brian) Gibbons, and Benji Brown, great-grandchildren, Amber Carey and Ethan Carey, and sisters Orine Casey of Wagener, Louise Kirkland of New Ellenton, Marjorie (Mark) Locklear of Wildwood, FL and Beverly (Reginald) Jeffcoat of Swansea, brother Grover Gleaton of Niagara Falls, N.Y., and sisters-in-law Doris Gleaton and Aletha Gleaton.
Visitation will be Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Wagener Chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home, 163 Main St. South, Wagener, SC. The Funeral Service will be Sunday at 3:00 p.m. in the Salley Baptist Church with the Revs. Phillip Proveaux and Henry Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in the Salley Oakview Cemetery.
