Batesburg – Leesville – Funeral services for Sheryl “Sherry” Pansy Brinkley, 64, will be held at 1 pm Saturday, September 6, 2014, at the First Baptist Church of Wagener, where she was a member. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary of the church at 12 noon. The Reverends Philip K. Turner and Jennings B. Duncan, III, will conduct the funeral. The interment will follow in the Wagener Cemetery.
Sherry went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, September 3, 2014. She was predeceased by her parents, Richard H. Brinkley, Sr., and Miriam Corbett Brinkley.
Sherry is survived by her siblings Richard H. “Dick” Brinkley, Jr., and his wife, Irene S. Brinkley of West Columbia; Elizabeth “Betty” B. English and her husband, Gordon B. English, Jr., of Camden; and Stephen C. “Steve” Brinkley of Palmyra, Virginia; nieces and nephews, Melanie E. Brinkley of London, England; Elizabeth E. Cody and her husband, Troy J. Cody of Columbia; and Philip H. English of Raleigh.
Sherry was a resident of the Batesburg – Leesville group home of the Babcock Center for many years. The family expresses grateful appreciation to the administration and staff of the Babcock Center for their unrelenting devotion and loving care for Sherry. Sherry loved being with her family and especially going to Brinkley and Old Ellenton reunions where she enjoyed all the coffee she wanted. She looked forward to family celebrations, especially eating out and enjoying special recognition on her birthday. The greatest loves of her life, though, were her Mom and Dad.
