Wagener – Mr. Otis Barr, 78, went to his heavenly home Sunday, November 8, 2015.
Mr. Otis was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was the husband of Mamie Green Barr for 58 years. He was the father of Wayne (Misty) Barr, Janet Starnes, Angie (Curt) Johns, Rebecca “Becky” (Richard) Boone, and Leigh (David) Pritchard. Mr. Otis has 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was the brother of Frank (Phyllis) Barr and the late Thurmond Barr, Deward Barr, Charles Barr, and James Barr. Mr. Otis was the son of the late Arleigh and Jesse Garvin Barr.
Mr. Otis was a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for 30 years. He also served as Song Leader and Sunday School Director for many years. Mr. Otis worked for the Aiken County Magistrate Court for 33 years, Busbee Hardware for 42 years, and Aiken County Recycling Center for several years. Lastly, Mr. Otis enjoyed working outdoors on his farm and raising cattle.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday in the chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home and Cremation Services. A Service to celebrate the life of Mr. Otis will be at 3 pm Wednesday at Mt. Hermon Baptist Church with the Reverend Josiah Mazzell and Dr. Vernon Pritchard officiating. Mr. Otis will be placed in the church at 2 pm for viewing. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Mt. Hermon Baptist Church at 1845 Cedar Creek Road, Pelion, SC 29123.
