Salley - Mrs. Lessie Murl Dowd Bailey, 73, entered into rest Friday, August 29th, 2014.
Mrs. Bailey was the loving wife of Harvey Bailey for 43 years until his passing in 2008. Mrs. Bailey is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law James and Pam Bailey, and Mike and Cindy Bailey of Salley; grandchildren, Dannie Brazzell, Jr. (April), Ashley Morgan Bailey, Brittany Richbourg, Brianna Richbourg, and Tori Wooten; great grandchildren, Sara Brazzell, Justin Brazzell, Ashlynn Brazzell, Brent Gary, Morgan Gary and Bryson Gary; 3 step grandchildren; 8 step great grandchildren; sister, Ruth (Milo) Furtick; brothers Carl “Doodle” (Valorie) Dowd and Mitchell (Pearl) Dowd all of Gaston; and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Bailey was the daughter of the late Bessie Watts and Lonnie B. Dowd. She was predeceased by her son Danny Brazzell, sisters; Pauline Sturkie, Mae Furtick, Nettie Smith, and Judy Livingston; brothers Bub Dowd, Amos Dowd, and Buck Dowd
Mrs. Bailey was the owner of Bailey’s Tire Service.
Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 pm at the Bailey’s home, 315 Clinton Church Road. The Funeral Service will be Tuesday, at 3 p.m. in the Mount Hermon Baptist Church with the Reverends Josiah Mazzell and Chris Addy officiating. Mrs. Bailey will be placed in the church an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
