New Holland – Mr. Earl Atkinson, Jr., 63, entered into rest at his home late Saturday evening, June 23rd.
Mr. Atkinson was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother and is survived by his wife Carolyn Wood Atkinson, children Paul and Vickie Atkinson of Windsor, Linda and Randy Ingram, and Laura and Gene Steadman of Wagener, mother Josephine Williams of Aiken, grandchildren Brandy Corder, Tiffany Steadman Gregory Steadman, Rachel Ingram, Randall Ingram and Hayley Ingram, brothers Edward Adkinson of McBeen, GA, Robert Adkinson of Langley, Wade Adkinson of Wagener, sisters Mary Fordham of Gadsen, AL, Shirley Proctor of Gloverville and Jo Ann A. Roscoe of Cheraw.
Visitation for Mr. Atkinson will be Monday, June 25th from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Wagener Chapel of Blizzard Funeral Home, 163 Main St. South, Wagener (803) 564-5333. The Funeral Service will be Tuesday at 10:00 am in the Seivern Baptist Church with the Rev. Milford Oswald officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers will be James White, Lamar Proctor, Tony Gray, James Gray, Wade Adkinson, Jr., Gene Adkinson and Mike Adkinson.
Mr. Atkinson was the son of the late Earl Atkinson, Sr. and Josephine Reddy Atkinson Williams. Mr. Atkinson was also predeceased by sister Shrildia Gray and brothers Brinkley and Reuben Adkinson. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and retired truck driver having driven for OVERNITE for over 30 years.
