Vladimir Vasil'yevich Agafonov

Columbia - Mr. Vladimir Agafonov, 83, entered into rest Tuesday, June 10, 2014.
Mr. Agafonov was born September 3, 1930 in Mariupol, Ukraine. His father was the late Vasiliy Agafonov and his mother was the late Efrosinia Agafonova (Potipun).
Mr. Agafonov is survived by his son Igor Agafonov and his wife Natalia Agafonova. His grandchildren are Michael and Olga. He was married to the late Alexandrea Agafonova (Ushkalova) in 1953. She was a school Librarian prior to her passing in 1991.
Mr. Agafonov graduated Voronezgh University and Kursk University and taught Geography in Shekiho town in Russia for 38 years. He was an avid chess player and was city champion twice. He loved birds, animals and his pets.
The Panikhida (Prayer) Service will begin at 6 pm Thursday in the Holy Apostles Orthodox Church, 724 Buff Street, West Columbia.
The Funeral Service will be Friday at 9:30 am in the Holy Apostles Orthodox Church with Father Thomas Moore officiating. The committal service will be held at the Saints Mary and Martha Monastery, 51 Spinner Lane Wagener, SC.
